ROTC Football Clean Up
Project Overview
In fall 2021 our KSolutions team was tasked with working with ROTC to reduce the cleanup time after home KSU football games. They started with a benchmark time of 4 hours with the goal of reducing that time since there is often an inconsistency in workers and it has taken up to 8 hours before. Students used principles in ergonomics, facilities planning and process improvement to reduce time by 25%.
Baseball Analytics
Project Overview
The goal of this project was to improve the K-State baseball team through data gathering and scraping, unique baseball technologies and the use of Python and SQL. The challenges faced included presenting technical results, creating projects and interacting with the players.
The Kramer Initiative
Project Overview
Students collaborate with campus dining management to improve operations through a variety of focuses. Previously, students focused on ergonomic and food waste reduction opportunities within the wok line and presented their recommendations to management to implement changes. This semester, we are hoping to lead multiple different student groups to conduct further analysis within food waste management and the process of the facility dish room.
JNT Marketing Analytics
Project Overview
JNT is a start-up marketing company that specializes in creative solutions and is located in Manhattan, KS. This semester, students will conduct a statistical and data analytics project to assist the company in determining the impact it has for its clients.
Guatemala Healthcare System Optimization
Project Overview
Students are pairing statistical and operations research conclusions with ideas form ethno-medicine and cultural anthropology to make policy recommendations to the municipality and department to increase the access and quality of healthcare in the region in Guatemala. The use of systems perspectives in a primarily anthropological field setting has rarely, if ever, been utilized. One student spent his entire summer in Guatemala collecting information for this project, and he is continually expanding upon his conclusions to drive results.
McCain Auditorium Ergonomic Training
Project Overview
McCain Auditorium employs many student employees who complete a variety of tasks that involve moving many kinds of objects in various ways, and they are hoping to improve their practices to ensure none gets injured. A student group will conduct ergonomic analysis and recommendations so that employees are doing their jobs safely and efficiently.
